A-hole

Today, I went back to work after a horrible bout of respiratory illness. After a few hours of using hot tea, cough drops, and tissues to deal with my lingering cough, I found out that my asshole coworker has filed a formal complaint about me disrupting her concentration. FML

How disruptive OP! Can't you die any quieter? I kid, I would of been a bit pissed with her.

It's inconsiderate to go to work sick if you're contagious, OP. Especially with how bad the flu is this year. My company has issued a policy this flu season that anyone with ANY kind of respiratory illness has to stay out of work for a minimum of 7 days, and has to go to Occupational Health to get cleared to come back to work after 7 days. We can get fired if we don't comply. So, if you're at all contagious, YDI.

Does your company pay employees full salary for the time they're out? If so where do you work; I'm sending my resume'!!!

**** up all her work so she won't get anything done :D

Here's an idea for all your morons who go to work sick - stay home. Your coworkers don't want to catch whatever virus you're spewing into the air and neither do your employer's customers.

Do you not read OP said that the went BACK to work meaning that they took off of work using their sick days. Companies have a limited number of sick days if OP stayed away longer than that number of sick days then they put themselves at the risk of being fired.

for everyone who says "STAY HOME" if it's been more than 7 days since onset and they are getting better then you are no longer contagious ... as for the coworker, tell them to get over themselves and/or buy earplugs, or just cough all over their stuff when they aren't looking ... :D

If OP has taken her antibiotics for designated time and does not have anymore symptoms she should not be contagious anymore. You could be sick for a week and have a lingering cough for a month. It's not fair to force someone to stay home for a month because you guys are paranoid about getting sick

But trying to work when somebody is coughing non-stop is a nightmare, she could at least wait until it's less persistent and annoying.

#34 - nowhere in this fml did it say it was a non-stop cough. just a lingering one. they could be coughing once every half hour and it just sounds terrible because of the sickness they just had, & the coworker is just being an ass.

If its over the certain number of days allowed and she's okay enough (not contagious) then she can go to work or her job might suffer. Her coworker should have more patience or invest in some ear plugs, no reason to be a bitch about it. People get sick, it's winter, get over it.

I can't stand it when people cough around me. I'm sorry but that's just how I am. In fact I'm sensitive to a lot of noises and sounds and that's why I'll never have a real job and seldom go out and I'm extremely lucky to be even living in an apartment building that's usually quiet. :(

I know a couple of people on the autistic spectrum who struggle with things like that, some do manage to find work that suits them, though it isn't easy. Whatever the cause of your sensitivities though, I doubt you'd cause somebody else problems due to them, must suck though for you :(

One of the big problems with the world today. We're so PC mad that we don't feel comfortable talking directly to a person when there is a problem. That an you co-worker is an a**hat for making the complaint. Do they have any idea that you are recovering from an illness? Probably best to stay at home until you're fully healed next time. Is there work that you can do from home??

you people are idiots. most work places dont have sick days or let you stay home sick with out being fired you have no idea what this person situation is

@32, are you serious?? What kind of third world country is the US to not have sick days available to employees? Here in Australia, there is a law that states 10 sick days for the first year and 12 for each year after. It's a law. Don't call people idiots for thinking that the US was in someway, a world leader in many areas.

I don't know where you live, but in California that is false.

In France, we have as many sick days as the doctor prescribed. Fully paid, half by you company and the other by the social security.

43 thats only with big companies if OP was a waitress and paid off the books then her boss could fire them of the boss was a big enough ass in some states. The US does lead in a lot of areas but in other things its just as bad as a third world country

what an ass. u should file a complaint about idiot coworkers
