Today, I was hanging out with my boyfriend. Everything seemed to be going well, when all of a sudden he turned to look at me with a pensive and thoughtful expression. I expected him to say something important, but instead he just said, "I was wondering, how does it feel to be fat?" FML

There's a good chance it was just a random thought that popped into his head, totally unrelated to his immediate surroundings. That happens to me all the time. And if that's the case, it probably wouldn't have occurred to him that you might take it as an insult, since in his mind it clearly didn't apply to you. Cut the guy some slack until you know the context of the question.
