Today, my boyfriend called me, panicking. Apparently he had a headache, but wasn't concentrating on what tablets he grabbed, and accidentally took tablets for "relief of period pain". He was convinced he was going to grow ovaries overnight. FML

FYI, companies that advertise their painkillers as for a certain 'brand' of pain (period, migraine, joint) are defrauding you - all of these contain exactly the same ingredients, usually a combination of panadeine, codeine or ibuprofen. Don't get me started on how much the companies' branding cost - it's like 30c per tablet :D comparison (that I buy/have bought) Generic brand codeine=40tablets $8 superhappyfunslide brand=20tablet $7 generic panadeine=24tabs 90c familywishshow pandeine=24tabs $4 /pharmaceutics nerd

Actually, there are differences in formulation of some painkillers even if it contains the same thing. EG. Panadol and Panadol Osteo. One has 500mg of paracetamol and the other 600mg respectively. However, Panadol Osteo is formulated for EXTENDED RELEASE to prolong pain relief. Period Pain tablets are usually extended release as well, even if they contain the same active ingredients as a standard paracetamol/codeine painkiller. /pharmacist's correction rant
