Can it, Susan

Today, a woman bitched me out at the grocery store, saying that since I'm not Indian, I shouldn't be wearing a bindi - a red dot on my forehead - because it's "cultural appropriation". I was too embarrassed to tell her it was actually a pimple I'd been trying to pop on my forehead. FML

Even if it was a bindi- who's she to assume you don't identify with that culture based on your looks alone? There's a thousand possible extenuating circumstances that could have given you justification to wear a bindi.

Don't try to pop it, despite how embarrassing it may be. Wait until there's white on it and then try. If you don't, the pimple will just get worse. I know the struggle, OP. Good luck!

I'm actually part Indonesian and js if it's okay for an indian to go Christian then its okay for *whatever you are* to wear that even if it wasnt a pimple.

If you had told her, it would have embarrassed her more than you.

As a half Indian half Bengali guy, I laughed a lot at this lol

Id tell her the truth to shut her mouth up.

I get one in the same spot. I'm Native American but have been mistaken for Indian before. you should have said it was a pimple. to be fair though it is cultural appropriation. fyl

Even if it was a bindi, why the big deal? I'm not of East Indian descent, yet I like to wear the clothes, and jewelry. I haven't come across any East Indian people who were offended. They probably take it as a compliment that someone is interested in their rich culture. Plus the food is yummy!

Because a bindi has religious significance? Kind of like using a crucifix as a fashion icon is tacky as ****.

In some cases, it also means the woman is married.

Wonder why people can make such mean comments to people without knowin them

Shoulda told her she's too stupid to be out in public we got enough of that running around

I would be less embarrassed about the pimple than I would be of someone accusing me of being culturally insensitive. I would have put her in her place...loudly. "It's a pimple you nosy cow!"
