FYL OP! You're being courteous and she was being a bitch. That's ok, you know your karma is good on this one!
Well, seeing as I seemed to have got In to the way of telling little tales in comments here we go! Tomorrow I get my license, I am petrified of driving, not because of mad drivers or my own skill as a driver but because of pedestrians! Most of the people in my city (cork) are ******* high as a kite and just pretty much throw themselves on your car!! That's my first tale!! :-)
Now for me as a pedestrian seeing cars. I am lucky enough that cork has some pretty decent drivers. I get into a panic if I have to cross a good bit of road when the timer is on the light, cause I walk slowly due to my limp and can not move fast or run. So whenever a driver has the heart to be patient for me I thank them with a wave and mouth "thank you" to them. Never had a bad experience ever

Pedestrians first. No one said drivers liked the rule.
What an odd way of saying "you're welcome!" She must be new in town.
