My response to anyone talking about children I should have was always "are you going to pay for them?" that usually shut people up
It's also fun to answer people who already have children who insist that you might change your mind that "so could you". Seriously, people DO regret having kids. Blindly relying on the idea that you will love them once they arrive lead to a lot of unwanted children, and it is a pain to grow up knowing you're not wanted.
i saw this comment on reddit, verbatim, was that you?
Reddit.com/r/childfree They're nice people
So what? Save money, headaches, AND you can still sleep through the night! The only one who has to deal with your mother-in-law is your spouse, and even then, it's still voluntary.
I hear yah OP. I'm in the same boat right now. I just always tell everyone that I can't keep my house plants alive. How do they expect me to keep children alive ?
Tell her to mind her own business
It's not her life and she should respect u and ur fiance's wishes, despite what she want.

You should do whatever seems best for you. I never understood why people pressure others to have kids.
Mother-in-laws are always a pain. Do what you want and dont listen to her
