Today, I was pulled over by a cop. He asked for my license and registration, so I reached for my center console. I was then greeted with a gun to my ear because my coffee cup supposedly looked like a gun. I stepped out of my car to apologize, and I was hit with a big stick. FML

Today, I got pulled over by a cop. Since my window wasn't working, I opened the door, causing him to run towards me with a drawn gun. He then had a go at me with his night stick. After realizing my window was broken, he laughed and let me off with a warning. FML

Today, I got pulled over by a cop car. As I was fumbling for my license and registration, I handed the officer a half-empty bag of Doritos I’d forgotten was in my glove box. He thought I was trying to bribe him. FML

Today, I got pulled over heading home from college. My car was full of my stuff from moving out, and I couldn't reach the glove box. I told the cop this, and asked if he wanted me to go around to the passenger side to get my paperwork. He agreed. When I got out of the car, he pepper sprayed me. FML

Today, I parked next to a police officer's car in a bad part of town. When I got out, I saw a bag of pot on the ground between the cop's car and mine. When I pointed it out to him, he insisted it was mine and interrogated me to the point of tears. FML

Today, I got pulled over for going a few miles per hour over the speed limit. The cop asked for my license and registration. I happened to look down at my wallet while he was processing everything and saw my license in my wallet. I gave the cop my fake I.D. FML

Today, my friend was pulled over and told to get out of the car. The officer motioned for me to get out of the car too so I reached behind me to get my shoes. He then pointed his gun at my face and frantically asked my friend if I had a gun. My friend calmly replied, "No, but shoot him anyway." FML

Today, I got pulled over for the first time. When the officer came up to my window, I immediately burst out into tears due to nervousness. He kept asking me for my licence and registration. Hysterical, I wasn't able to comply. He arrested me for not cooperating. FML

OP ydi, you probably didn't tell the cop what you were doing and just started making sudden movements, scaring the shit out of them, then jumped out of your car acting frantic, be happy his/her training allowed them to deal with you w/o shooting you or OC spraying you

Never step out of the car unless they ask you to. If you step out without them asking they have every right to take it as a threat. If he did ask you to step out, then go file a report against him.

I'm amazed at all the people saying he shouldn't be reaching for his licence and registration WHEN THE COP ASKED HIM TO DO EXACTLY THAT! The cop is a dumbass for thinking the cup looked like a gun but OP is also a dumbass IF he got out of the car without being told to. IF that is in fact what happened you're probably lucky he didn't shoot you!

Honestly cops to have a right to be cautious at times, especially at routine pull overs. I've known of cops being blown away the minute they get to the car window. I can't imagine the stress....

*-*-*-* only in america *-*-*-* dumbass police officer I hope you took his badge number and make suitable representation of yourself to his Sergent, and to anyone saying the police officer was edgy and has a bad job, if he's that edgy he could of killed someone for getting their license as he requested and been done for murder. If he was going to shoot and beat someone who would of been in a defensive apologetic stance not agressive or threatening - then simply he shouldn't be policing

FYL for your coffee cup being mistaken for a gun, that really sucks. YDI for getting out of the car when I'm assuming the cop didn't tell you to, since you didn't mention him saying anything. When a cop thinks you have a weapon, and then you jump out of your car, you're lucky he didn't shoot you.
