Dad joke

Today, my immature dad said that I'm a girl, not a woman, so my witty response was, ''I have a period, so I'm pretty sure that makes me a woman.'' My dad stole my phone and sent a text to everyone in my address book, quoting me. Including the guy I like. FML

Why the "including the guy I like" part? I mean, how is it bad that he knows you're a woman?

Just because you got your period doesn't mean you are a woman, it means you got your period. Books, TV shows and movies like to say you are a woman when you start to bleed, but that doesn't make it so. Only when you are living on your own and behaving in a mature responsible way will you be a woman. YDI, and I feel sorry for your dad for having to put up with such a spoiled brat for a daughter, although he is probably partially responsible for you being a spoiled brat.

True, but that was pretty immature on his own side aswell.

So true. Periods don't make a woman :/

I would've been ticked too...but that is pretty funny XD

You're not a woman, you're a child. Grow up ****. My guess is you're 14, 15 tops.

OK I have a few things to say. 1st off: Anyone who has ever gone to school learns in sex ed that when a girl starts bleeding, she becomes a woman. I don't mind being considered a young woman. Oh, and I don't consider a 9 year-old girl that bleeds a woman. Most of you take this way to literally. 2nd: the way my dad was saying it was as if I was 5 years old again, which I'm not. 3rd: I know that I'm not mentally mature enough to be considered a woman in regards to being experienced, older and wiser. 4th: I've gone through a lot more stuff than most of the people currently in high school. I'm not saying that I'm grown up or anything. But I am a lot more mature than the kids that attend my school, and all the other kids that I know in other schools. 5th: I'm not a spoiled brat/bitch or whatever else you want to call me. This is just the way my dad acts and I really don't mind it for the most part. But when he continually talks down to me and makes me feels like I'm unable to do anything for myself and that I depend on him and my mother 100% it makes me a little angry. Especially considering that I have a job and make my own hard-earned money instead of my parents just handing me cash when I ask for it. I pay back every cent I borrow and they know that. Lastly, I AM IN NO HURRY AT ALL TO GROW UP. I REALLY ENJOY BEING A TEENAGER. For the record, I applaud those of you that were smart enough to get that I'm 15 from my user name. and to all you idiots: we don't piss blood at that time of the month, and I don't know about all the females that commented my FML, but I personally (and my friends) don't have a problem talking about our periods, we just choose to NOT have every single person in our phones get notified when we are. I am well aware that they know I have a period and they can probably tell when I'm on it, but that doesn't mean that they want updates!

Sounds like something my dad would do!

"Anyone who has ever gone to school learns in sex ed that when a girl starts bleeding, she becomes a woman." Um, no? In sex ed, I learned that when a girl starts menstruating, she doesn't automatically "evolve" into a woman. The only thing that the commencement of the menstrual cycle indicates is that the girl is now releasing her ova, shedding the lining of her uterus, and is more than likely capable of producing offspring. Are you suggesting that boys become men after their first wet dream because they are then producing and distributing sperm? Unlikely. "I've gone through a lot more stuff than most of the people currently in high school. I'm not saying that I'm grown up or anything. But I am a lot more mature than the kids that attend my school, and all the other kids that I know in other schools." The simple fact that you honestly believe you're more mature than every single individual who attends your school is a testament to your immaturity. "I have a job and make my own hard-earned money instead of my parents just handing me cash when I ask for it." And what do you spend that money on? Food? Rent? Health care? Insurance? Car payments? Utilities? I don't even know you, yet I am almost certain that the money you earn is spent almost entirely on yourself, for extras - extra clothes, going out with friends, etc. Which isn't to say these are bad things to spend all your money on - but don't then use it as a claim to your maturity.

'woman' is just a term for someone born with a ******. it's not a term of respect. so i dont understand the issue with not being called a woman. also, i think it would be fairly easy to send another mass text explaining, "that was my dad being immature" honestly, in your response here you sound fairly mature, but as a word of advice, saying things like "even to the guy i like! FML!" makes you sound more like 12 years old than 15.

**** your dad!!! Steal HIS phone and tell all his co-workers that he's gay; see how he likes it!

lol that sucks for you.. but hell you disserved it. hahahahahahahahahahaha your dad is legit hha

1. in stealing your phone and texting all of your contacts that, I would consider that more than enough evidence that you were more than justified and correct in calling him immature. that kind of crap is what you would expect from a bratty little 9 year old brother, not a responsible adult and legal guardian. He crossed the line 2. Those of you who are commenting should really read the line just underneath “add a comment”. It says “Speak your mind, but please try and be respectful.” Seeing as you have no idea who this young woman is and have no idea of her situation, you shouldn’t assume that she is just a little bratty teenager. While yes, many teens just backtalk their parents, you can’t lump them all into a stereotype based on age. I have met the most childish and immature 30 and 40 year-olds that I would never allow alone with my children because I couldn’t trust them to be responsible adults, and I have met the most responsible and mature 16 year olds. So those of you who insist on attacking and name calling this girl, do future generations a favor, go win a Darwin award and rid your genes from the gene pool so that future generations have a chance at having some semblance of empathy and brainpower. You obviously fall under the immature category along with this girl’s father.
