Ahah. I did that once in eigth grade. This kid was teasing me about it saying it was a hickey and I told him it was a burn from a curling iron. He kept bugging me about it so my best friend got feed up and finally said "You wouldn't know a hickey if you're mom gave it to you." and I started cracking up saying "Who's burnt now?" Random, but still relevant. :) Oh, the joy of heated hair products...

It's called cover up. If you don't have any use cute scarf to accessorize (not sure if i spelled that right) which should also cover up the mark.
