It's amazing how poorly people who don't want to accept evidence which points to a terrible truth will try to shift the blame. This isn't even about you and your boyfriend... why the hell would you do anything in their bed and be so careless about it when you have your own apartment. Good luck OP, time to give them some space before the real shit goes down.
That's annoying I imagine but still it's more sad she's in that bad of denial at this point. Try to explain it as logically and calmly as you can and possibly yell at your idiot father to come clean.
I think your mother is in denial.
Or OP's mother is the one having an affair.
Plot twist!
Your dad's a jerk, if he is having an affair.
3 things jump out at me after reading and reflecting on this FML: 1. I don't understand how using a condom isn't responsible according to your mother, unless she's saying that leaving it carelessly on a nightstand is irresponsible, in which case I would understand. 2. It's possible that the condom is a result of your father masturbating into it and he's not actually having an affair. 3. It's also possible that he indeed had an affair in his own house and left the condom on his bedroom nightstand like an idiot.
The mother thinks they are responsible for the act of leaving it there.
Have you ever met a man who just masturbates into a condom? Why the hell would anyone do that?
The only men I know who ********** with condoms are younger inexperienced men, who want to get used to getting off well with a condom on- makes sense. But, yes, considering that OP's dad is married and has been having sex for a long time, it's probably an affair.
If you cared you would prove him guilty. if not. why come back?
She IS trying to prove him guilty, but her mother's in denial and is refusing to believe that her husband is (probably) cheating on her. It's not easy to come to terms with.
Oh the power of denial.
