Today, and throughout the past week, my electricity, water, cable, and Internet were progressively shut off. Why? Because my deranged mother-in-law has been stealing the money orders I use to pay my bills out of my mailbox. She also stole the late notices because she didn't want me to be "mad". FML

Today, I have an egregious delinquent neighbor. She is always using internet and electrical services illegally, but is always getting packages from Amazon. Her packages are always left at my place, as she is so afraid of tax collectors, she won't open the door. She gave my billing address without my consent. FML

Today, my ridiculously paranoid mom was almost arrested after she caused a huge scene outside her apartment's leasing office. She demanded to pay her rent with a money order, even though they’re only accepting online payments due to the quarantine. She thinks they’re trying to steal her information. FML

Today, my mother called me "wasteful" because I left the refrigerator door open and that "electricity money doesn’t grow on trees." This is the same person who lets my little sister have her light on all night, because she’s scared of the dark. FML

Today, my grandmother, who I live with, turned the heat off in our house because she went through my private, personal notes on how I wanted to spend my paycheck, and she was mad that I used some of it to help the father of my not-yet-born child, who's struggling financially, make his car payments. FML

Today, all of my credit cards were frozen due to fraud. The culprit? My own mother. She rationalized it by saying I "owed" her for raising me. She didn’t even raise me. My grandma did. FML

Today, my manager asked me for the password to my Internet so she could Skype family since she can't pay her bill. This is the same woman who just a week ago tried to evict me because my rent was an hour late. Trying to be the bigger person, I gave her the password. She changed my password. FML

first off take her to court for tampering with your mail second go to a blue mailbox the post office has them usually and put your bills there and third pay online if your worried about your mail getting lost

I'm from Ireland, and that just seems like a really weird way to pay bills. We pay ours online and such.

#44, these days most people in the United States, too, pay online, or at least mail checks instead purchasing a money order for each bill each month. But some people don't have a checking account, or any other account through which they can do online bill paying -- could be due to personal preference (not everyone trusts banks, or trusts themselves with an easy-access account) or a bad credit history (if any of these utility companies reported to the credit bureaus, OP got credit-record dings for bill nonpayment over this in addition to the shutoffs).

How can she steal a money order, the only person who can do anything with it is the payee. It's not like she can cash it. I think I smell a little BS.
