Don't look back

Today, I quit my job as a barista for one of our competitors with a couple of bucks more an hour. Two hours after I'd handed in my resignation, my boss approached me just to let me know that if I hadn't resigned, I would've been offered my own café. FML

He was probably lying about the cafe just because you quit you know...

Sounds like bluff to me... if you were really getting your own cafe, they would have used that as a bargaining point in keeping you on.

You know, you could turn that around and say. "If you had offered me some advancement I wouldn't be leaving in the first place." There is a reason you decided to make a change, and it sounds like your boss isn't the best when it comes to people skills. Move on.

Call bullshit. He's probably lying just to make you feel bad about leaving.

YDI for not even talking about a raise. If you don't point something out then who's going to do anything about it?

tell him to give you a blumpkin

If that was the situation, he would have offered the cafe to you anyway in order to keep you in the fold. He's playing mind games with you to watch you squirm. Don't fall for it.

Agreed. Any boss worth anything understands quality people are hard to come by. They wouldn't let you leave without making the offer if it were genuine.
