Today, I found out my late grandfather left me a significant amount of money in his will. I thought it was weird because he always acted like he hated me. When I got the envelope, there was $500,000 inside, all in Monopoly money. FML

I don't sympathize with you OP, reason being, if I could of gotten to know my grandfather and he pulled a stunt on me like that, I'd smile and maybe shed a tear. Not because he left me monopoly money. Maybe because, just because I missed him. Because my grandmother meant the world to me and if she did this. Id think it was funny..... So stop sounding so greedy will ya.. And work for your money, like he did.

We know nothing about OP's relationship with their grandfather other than he hated OP, so it isn't our place to assume that he didn't try. And I'm sure you'd be pissed if all your grandfather left for you was Monopoly money, especially if you thought it was real.

You missed the whole point. The grandfather hated OP enough that he tricked her into thinking he left her something that could be considered thoughtful and a sign that he once cared for her, only to be let down by a dirty trick from beyond the grave. Just because you find it funny, doesn't mean other people on the receiving end of hate shouldn't. Remember, he hated OP, And $500,000 could have helped during this economy.

Yeah 500,00 would help anyone in during any time.. No matter the state of our economy. And yeah of course we don't know there relationship, but how sure can u be he did just because he hated OP. I'm not telling OP how to feel in just stating what I think.

How sure can you be that he DIDN'T do it because he hated OP? All I'm saying is it isn't our place to speculate what OP should and shouldn't have done, especially since we are basing this solely off of an FML.

Isn't it a little fast to just assume OP is greedy because of this FML? He said his grandfather had left him a big amount of money which surprised him and obviously he was happy about it! It turned out to be monopoly money and OP was dissapointed. Any one would be.

OP's grandpa went well out of his way to ensure that she didn't get anything. Yes, I believe there is a reason for everything, even bad things, but in this case, it doesn't seem to merit what OP got (or didn't get) from her late grandfather. I think it's simply a case of Grandpa being at the pinnacle of dickdom, even after death. Any other person with working brain cells would be let down.
