Today, I took my girlfriend to eat out at a restaurant. We chatted for an hour, and it all seemed to be going well, until she told me that she wanted to break up. Waiting for the bill and driving her home was the most painful time of my life. FML

"Would you folks like any dessert? No? You sure? You make such a cute couple, maybe I could recommend the shared sundae?"

Good luck, OP. But you were a nice guy for still paying.

I would have ditched her right that second lol

personally i would have dropped enough for my dinner on the table and said goodbye, leaving her to find her own way home. if you're going to break up with someone, for god's sake, don't do it on a date. she could have waited to break op's heart until the next day or two, come on. that was heartless of her.

I would have made her pay her half and then allowed her the honor of catching a taxi home.

That's when you walk up too the sever and hand him enough cash to cover the tab, his 40 percent tip and a cab fare for the lady, and keep walking. I keep a 120 handy at all times for such occasions.

Why in the hell did you stay OP? Drop your half of the bill and let her find her own way home.
