Everybody wants to be a cat

Today, I caught my 10 year-old in the closet, naked, on his hands and knees, eating cat food straight from the bag. He'd torn a hole in the side of the bag, cat food was everywhere. We have plenty of food in the house, but he wants to be a cat. FML

Be a good mom and get him a litter box.

I get the feline your house is a catastrophe — breathe, take a paws.

If this keeps up, teach him how to catch mice to earn his keep. You are not going to let him sit around and become a lazy, spoiled lap cat.

Um okay he is 10 unless special needs make him clean up the mess. tell him cats don't watch TV or other human things. tell him you don't want a cat drive him past the pound

In ten years he's going to reflect on this and be so embarrassed he's going to stop what he's doing to disassociate and relive that moment

I have friends who are furries. My reaction would be to buy him a set of cat ears and a clip on tail. Emphasize that it's cool to play "kitty" as long as he keeps his clothes on, and that you prefer that he restrict himself to "people food". (And whatever other rules make sense to you--like no wearing the cat ears/tail at school, for instance.) Of course if he sticks with this, he's going to discover furry fandom sooner or later--and yeah, while the overwhelming majority of furries aren't creeps or predators, they are out there. It's up to you how you wanna deal with that--but I'm a big fan of "world proofing your kid"--give them the instruction and the support that they'd need to deal with creepers anywhere else.

Everybody wants to be a cat, because the cat's the only cat, who knows where it's at

It's not that unusual to pretend to be an animal. Plenty of kids, usually girls, would pretend to be wolves and horses when I attended elementary school. However, it is quite strange that he was naked and eating cat food. Then again, I had a neighbor that would eat dog food because he enjoyed the taste. So, maybe I didn't have a normal community, or maybe your son isn't that weird. You decide.

they that stuff, mine started putting stuff in his mouth (never did it when he was little) because he "wants to be a dog, and that's what dogs do". (he said like duh) laugh about it take a pic next time (make sure nothing is exposed in it,) and show their significant other when they're older

On the upside, it's a lot more realistic than wanting to be president.
