Favoritism

Today, I was playing and laughing with my new baby boy. He was giggling, and it was adorable. Out of nowhere, I said, "You're my favorite!" Now I'm sitting here, talking to my two other children about how what I said earlier I didn't mean personally. They never want to talk to me again. FML

Today, I was hanging out with my mother, older brother, and my newborn baby brother. I had been feeling upset and depressed about the new baby because I felt I would be overshadowed by him and I would get no attention. My mother assured me this would not happen and I accepted it. Then she told my baby brother that he was "her favorite." My depression just increased two-fold. FML.

I developed an awful inferiority complex that gets in the way of my relationships due to my parents favoring my older brother my whole life but even I can tell this is not a case of "bad parenting" nor is she an "unfit mother." I would probably do something similar in the moment. It was just a cute time and the words slipped out. No, it's not something that should be said, but it happened and she clearly did not mean it. It's not like she turned to her other kids and said, "Get out, I'm playing with my favorite," or something equally as rude to make them feel worse. It's not like she treats them like crap. She clearly does care for them if she felt bad about it and posted on here. So obviously this was an accident and I'm sure they'll understand that soon enough. Damn.

Guys, calm down! It was an honest mistake. If her kids are mad for the rest of their lives, then they have some issues they need to work through. I'm sure this will blow over soon, and everything will be fine.

Don't worry. The newness of your baby will wear off it a few years, and then you won't have any favorites anymore; you'll have three mediocre kids.

Go easy on her...people say a lot of weird things when they go googley-eyed for a newborn baby, even with a puppy, or kitten. Clearly an accident.

all af you that are whining about how ur not loved GET OVER YOURSELVES we all went through the "nobody loves me" phase, so quit complaining Damnlife123 u should make it a family joke My mom tells me and my siblings all the time that were her favorite. Just for a little thing like getting something ou of thr basement. We dont take it personally cuz she doesnt mean it that way Best thing todo in a scandal is just to laugh it off
