i think ydi, my computer hasnt had a virus in like 4 yrs.

As a IT myself, it doesn't make sense they would do that. Usually you root out the virus -before- you back up. Assuming it's not latched to a system file. A couple good programs that I use (That offices do not normally pay for, but have free versions) Are: Malwarebytes, spybot and a few others. Spybot isn't good if the guy isn't sure what he's doing because it can delete system files. Hopefully, your virus free soon. It's a pain and a security risk.
I'm opting for ydi. There are plenty of antivirus programs to prevent this and removing one is extremely simple with a decent program. While your IT guy messed up he still did more than you're capable of.
