Genius move

Today, the new office IT guy figured the best way to get the virus off my computer was to wipe my entire hard drive. He was kind enough to back my data up and restore everything from the backups. Including the virus. FML

He probably felt really stupid after he restored it. But it was really dumb to not plug the hdd into a Linux box and try scanning for viruses before restoring the data.

Free antiviruses (or a combination of them) can get most viruses off. Your IT guy is pretty dumb... FYL

Well shit. I'm shocked he didn't ask what you wanted to save. Quarantine the files. And then figure out which one is the malware. Before putting your stuff back on.
