Dumbass IT
As an IT guy he should've known that the backed up files were still infected. He should be fired post haste.
Haha what an idiot.... Sounds like you need another new nerd.
Ydi for working for such a bad company that they hired this noob. Oh, and for getting the virus in the first place.
Depending on the type of malware, it can be very easy to get rid of, or really hard. I have worked on many comps with different malware and so far have not had to do a reinstall. I have about 10-15 programs that deal with malware removal that I use depending on what kind it is + a live cd. Reinstalls should be a last resort.
Time to get some heat for posting this but I agree. Would you drive a bus without a licence? Would you fly a plane without training? Jump in water without being able to swim? Viruses are 100% avoidable you just need to be able to use a computer efficiently. Yes I'm slightly biased as I'm a BSc MSc software engineer however simple steps can be taken not to get them in the first place. Don't click ridiculous links, don't download rubbish, don't surf questionable websites, don't accept files from random people and use good antivirus software. However the "tech guy" sounds like he took an online course and really only knows where the power button is.
ahahhahahahahhaa
