Get back here!

Today, I texted my flatmate to ask him when he would be paying his portion of the rent, since he has told me he would be late this month. He wrote back to inform me that he had moved out last night while I was away, and that he won't be paying me anything. FML

Tell him you're pregnant with his baby and that you'll "make it go away" if he pays the clinic fee (which will be what his rent payment should have been + a couple hundred extra for fun!)

Is the whole lease in your name or is his name on it too? If its all in your name, FYL. If part is his, then I think your landlord can make him pay for the last month of rent.

Leases are typically single contracts with multiple co-signers. For example, imagine a 2 bedroom apartment lease for $1000 a month signed by two people. Each signer is responsible for the entire contract. The signers work "together" to get $1000 paid each month, on time. If one person pays $500 to the landlord, and the other doesn't, they are _both_ in breach of contract. An eviction can then begin. As a landlord, I tell my tenants, "I'm not running a motel. I don't rent rooms."

LMAO This is easy, "he wrote back." Save that damn text and take this ex-roommate to court. Just by texting back what he/she did is proof enough, like a confession, that he/she owes you money.
