Get me out

Today, I spent half-an-hour trapped inside my dog's crate. The door locked behind me as I squeezed myself inside to stroke her. After bellowing at my family in the garden for what felt like an eternity, they came through just to laugh and take pictures. FML

Why did you put your whole body into the crate to pet the dog?

You would have done the same to them if it had been the other way around.

Of course they wanted pictures of the silly predicament their "Special child" had gotten into.

I never understood why people with dogs keep crates/cages for them inside the house. Why trap your friend, if not a four-legged family member, in a tiny space inside their home?

Crates are like a "den" to most dogs. Just a spot to eat or sleep/chill out in (or be out of the way while the humans are cleaning the house). They're not locked in there all the time. It's just like a little bedroom for them.

Yeah, some people definitely crate their dogs unnecessarily, but I've known some who just have a crate with the door left permanently open, which their dogs really enjoy.

Now you know how the dog feels when you close the door.

I love how you had to use the word stroke

I'm preeeeetty sure that if a dog wanted scratches, he'd get up and move to you.

I probably would have taken pictures and laughed too.

Ok, I own a dog, I own a dog crate and I own a dog carrier (some people use carriers as crates but I have both for different reasons). I have no idea how you could lock yourself in accidentally.

did they published it on facebook or another place where we can look at them?
