And, what, you were planning to... commute to this job three hours away? To me, it goes without saying that you're going to have to move. Whether or not you take the hamster with you is sort of inconsequential. You can always move back in with your boyfriend after your contract is up, unless you mean to say that your boyfriend broke up with you, in which case, you need to say that.
Op could've...expected to talk over it? They were offered it. They hadn't taken it yet, so they might've wanted to talk with their boyfriend and decide with him.
#19 sounds like we are the only ones who have the same thoughts. I was so confused on all the replies to this fml about breaking up and the bf doesn't want OP to work. I even took the hamster offer as having someone for accompany for the 3 months contract. I thought this fml is about how OP didn't want to move and want her bf to talk against the job so she has a reason to turn down the offer, yet the bf didn't understand and told her to go for it for the good of her own career. You gotta start off somewhere after months of unemployment, right?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say he is not threatened by the income he is putting up a defensive because he is worried about her being away and what could happen in that time frame with the relationship.
This depends on if it was a joke or not. The way I see the situation is that it was just a casual joke. If not then yes, FYL.
I think the boyfriends point was that he didn't want to take care of a hamster so it's like look if you're going to move out for 3 months could you please take the hamster too
Sounds to me like he was looking for an excuse. You're better off without him.

maybe you can find a new job and a new boyfriend, one that appreciates your plight.
I'm sorry OP, that's probably not a serious relationship to your boyfriend if he is willing to end it like that. But at least the hamster doesn't have to suffer in the breakup
