Good boy

Today, I brought back the puppy I adopted for my family. I spent months doing all the research on puppy care with two young children, and at least five hundred dollars for the dog, the supplies, toys… the whole lot. Turns out everyone's allergic to her. FML

Man, you people are haters. I'm sure nothing's ever slipped y'all's minds before. I understand why the OP forgot: if he or she's not allergic to anything, then checking for allergies wouldn't have crossed his or her mind. That really sucks about the dog.

Please remember that no dog or cat is completely hypoallergenic. Saliva and dander is the source of allergies. Unless your bet has no spit or skin there is always a risk that you will be allergic or develop and allergy later on. And not everyone over comes their allergy after a long enough exposure and some allergies are too severe for zyrtec, claritan, et al.

Whoever said allergies are a "made up" disease is a moron. I know some people whose allergies are so severe, they would stop breathing and die without immerdiate treatment. Ever heard of anaphylactic shock?? So, just taking an allergy pill, or "learning to live with it" is not an option for all people. That being said, the OP should have def thought about that before getting a new dog. Depending on the severity of the allergies, you might not be totally screwed. Also, you can become desensitized after being exposed to an allergen for a period of time.

To all the IDIOTS who suggest shaving off the hair, it's not the HAIR/FUR that causes the allergy, it's something produced in the dog's saliva when it licks itself. Same with cats.

Why would you spend $500 on a dog when you could save one from the pound for free? Do you have any idea how many dogs (many of them puppies) are euthanized a year because people would rather spend money on a some purebred? Come on man.

#19 you're obviously not very allergic to your cat, otherwise you wouldn't even be able to be in the same place as your cat. as am i. that is why we bought ourselves a japanese bobtail, which is a good cat to have if you're allergic to cats. you should have done more research. maybe asking the family if they are allergic to dogs or if they could possibly be allergic to dogs. but it also depends on how allergic they are to the dog. cause it's possible that they can build up an immunity towards it. it's also possible to reduce (not get rid of) the things that make people allergic to by proper grooming and keeping the house clean of dog hair.

Well, time to get out ol' faithful and take the dog behind the shed....

at least now you brought home some lunch

Sorry, I think you deserved that. You said you did a ton of research but I guess you missed the part where it says to always do a "meet and greet" before officially adopting the dog. This goes for both other pets and kids.
