Good boy

Today, I brought back the puppy I adopted for my family. I spent months doing all the research on puppy care with two young children, and at least five hundred dollars for the dog, the supplies, toys… the whole lot. Turns out everyone's allergic to her. FML

So... I don't get it. I have a cat that my family's allergic to.

Man, you people are haters. I'm sure nothing's ever slipped y'all's minds before. I understand why the OP forgot: if he or she's not allergic to anything, then checking for allergies wouldn't have crossed his or her mind. That really sucks about the dog.

Poor dog. I hope "taking it back" meant giving it to a friend or relative, not the pound. The older a dog gets, the less likely it is to get adopted by somebody. Allergic or not, you have more responsibility towards it than just dumping it off at the nearest cage.

Bishon Frise = hypoallergenic & great with kids. Get one of those and then you can have a puppy w/o the allergy problems & still keep all the toys and such that you bought. I'm sure you can return the other one to the breeder and it will find a new home.

I got a puppy in January and I was allergic to her at first but after being around her my body just got used to it and the allergies stopped about a month later. So keep it.

Replace your family, they are defective, and stick to the dog IMO

In my opinion, pets should always go through a trial period with their new family. There are organizations that do this for the benefit of both the pet and their family. And oh yes, if you do plan to have a pet in the future (such as when the kids move out), please adopt one! There are many animals in those shelters that need a loving and wonderful home. Many of them spend much of their lives in these shelters, some dying in them because nobody wants them.

Your life is ******? Your life is fine. I feel worse for the unadopted dog than I do for you, that's terrible.

You could always get rid of your family. :P

I hope you don't plan on getting rid of that dog. I have allergies that I developed late in life to my rabbit and dogs I've had for many years. Guess what, they still live in my home. I have to wash my hands and arms every time I touch them, and I do it because I'm the one who brought them home. Your fault for not realizing your family would be allergic to dogs. You've never seen anyone in your family around a dog before? Hard to believe. #58 and #59 have got it right.

Oh and P.S. I hope you spent all of that money to adopt a dog from a shelter, because otherwise you didn't adopt a dog, you bought a dog that probably came from a puppymill.
