Why didn't you just tell her that you would turn up the heat? Once she had some hot coffee, she would probably feel warmer. In a few minutes, go up to her and ask her if the temperature was more to her liking. If not, say you will turn it up some more. She has no idea you aren't actually doing anything.
why do customers always insist on reporting someone to corporate for a really stupid reason?

At least you got nothing to worry about! If corporate controls the temperature, then they will know when the customer calls to complain that you did nothing wrong.
