Got talent?

Today, I told my mom that I want to try out for a singing competition on TV, so I might be able to kick off my musical career. She convinced me to sing a song for her, so I did. Mid-way through, she lost it, burst into laughter, and told me to stay in school. FML

Better at home with mom rather than on national television or in front of a crowd, and that's what family's for.

I'd rather have someone I know tell me that at home, than go on national tv and have it told to me.

It sounds like your mom did you a favor. You deserve it to think much higher of your ability then you obviously have. To top it off, if you can't take criticism from your mom, why would you think you can take it from professionals? YDI

Don't let it get to ya. If that's what ya want go for it. You never know unless you do.

At least se was honest with you so you wouldn't look like a fool on national television.

At least she was honest! Better to find out in front of your mother than a large number of people you probably have other talents keep trying or maybe singing lessons and don't ever give up on your dreams op

Honestly, either you have a rude mother or you aren't a very good singer, and I'm going to assume the latter. But don't give up. Just take a few vocal lessons before you risk singing on national television.

After the audition episodes I have seen of American Idol, your Mom did you a big favor. She coould have been a bit more tactful but, still.

Reality competitions have worked so well for all those thousands of singers haven't they? Even if you can sing that's a very poor choice.
