Well, she can pay all of your bills now. That's what my mom would be doing if it were me...
You need a better job anyway. One where they don't fire you for such petty crap.
Ok so I would feel bad for you except for one thing nobody mentioned. You were scheduled to work today yet were at home if they were calling you. Even if you didn't know that's what she said you obviously knew your mom called them and said something. Unless you're 15 you should have followed up with them instead of just staying home cause your mom told you to!
damn, could your mother have come up with a better excuse? |the kid|
I'm calling fake... if this was true the boss would organize a meeting with op to discuss the problem not just blindly believe a strange woman claiming to be his mother
I would probably cry.
If OP is a legal minor (most likely) then probably the mother's call is sufficient for the boss to take action (& in that case it was some crappy job anyway); however if OP is adult then not can the boss not fire her for that reason but may even be considered slander. At-will employment means ur boss can fire u for a good reason, for no reason but not under a false or unproven reason. Like, they can't say u r fired b/c u stole money if that's false. A call from mom (& how did boss verify that?) is hearsay & not proof. Anybody with an ax to grind can then get one fired by calling the boss & saying something bogus.
So... now you´re free for your birthday right?
Yep, not legal at all call your boss calmly inform him/her if you are not reinstated immediately you will file a complaint with HR, The Dept of Labor, and equal employment commission. You can also potentially also sue under the ADA (if in America) for wrongful termination even if you do not have a mental illness.

I'd tell them your mom has no say in the matter, if they don't offer you your job back then tell them it's illegal to fire you based on something your relative says if that fails, file a complaint with the dol
Just explain to your boss that your mom is in a weak mental state.
