How you remind me

By heartfelt - 02/08/2014 03:23 - Sweden - Uppsala

Today, I was rejected by a company I applied to. When I was writing my application, I spent so much time on their website researching that the ads on my browser are almost all for their products. It's like getting rejected again with every click. FML

Spend hours on a **** site. It'll at least change the type of ads. ... I've heard.

I don't know what the application contained, but I wouldn't do extensive research about the company until I got accepted for an interview. That's just me, though.

What ever happened to professionalism? I'm impressed that OP took the time to do the research beforehand. It's always best to be prepared for an impromptu interview if the manager/owner happens to have the time at the moment. Some employers like to do that to see how you deal under pressure. Which also means you should dress up in what you would wear to an interview just to drop of your resume. It's all about first impressions...you never know who you'll be speaking to when dropping off a resume.

It's also nice to know about the company you're applying to. You can tailor your resume or application answers to reflect the company's values or needs.

I said extensive. For a simple application online that you just simply submit, I think it's a waste of time to do EXTENSIVE research. When you get an interview, then yes be professional.

Doing research before and after submitting an application is professional, but knowing everything about a company for just simply submitting an application is not something I would take my time on.

write a bad review about the company website stating it got too many ads...

Just start looking up one thing over and over again, and your ads with change. :)

At times I wonder is it really worth searching out the company...

For an interview, yes. For an application, only to some extent.

I feel ya. I applied to Google. Got an on-site interview. I got denied. Afterwards, every I use my Andriod phone, Chrome, Maps, Keep, Gmail, Docs, and all the other stuff, I just feel rejected. It fades.

I'm sorry. And AdBlock works real well, you should try it out.

Adblock, Op. It saves all that torment.
