HR FML

By jobless - 01/12/2015 04:01 - New Zealand - Auckland

Today, HR sent a review email to me asking me to anonymously tell them about my boss. I decided to use this opportunity to tell them what a dick he was. I printed off the review, filled it out, then scanned and emailed it to myself. Or so I thought. Turns out I'd sent the review to my boss. FML

Maybe your boss is hard on you because you make careless mistakes like this?

Doesnt matter, anonymous surveys are never really anonymous. Always, watch what you say. If you critisize your boss do it as if he was reading it.

Very true. Last year my employer sent out an all employee "anonymous" survey and I didn't fill one out because I knew it wasn't truly anonymous. Sure enough, my supervisor asked me about a week later why I hadn't done the survey. I asked him that since I hadn't told anyone that I didn't do it how could he possibly know I hadn't done it? Wasn't it supposed to be completely anonymous? He just sheepishly mumbled under his breath and walked away.

If you emailed directly from the scanner to your boss, is there a chance it'd still be anonymous? If from your own email address then you've learnt a lesson about double checking, at least. Perhaps your boss may even consider what you've said and improve their behaviour, though you won't see it

Sorry to hear your boss is such a dick, but that was a dumbass mistake. YDI.

Judging by OP's name, I'm guessing her employment was terminated? That sucks. In future reference however, triple check the recipients of any email - especially ones like that.

Why would you mail it to yourself?...You know what you wrote. Why not even just scan it to a flash drive? YDI

Yeah I was wondering that too. Why not just fill out the anonymous survey and submit it and be done with it? Did OP need to save it to congratulate his/herself? Seems odd.

Maybe the form needed to be emailed to HR? That's the only reason I can see that she would need to email it to herself?

It's not really anonymous if you're emailing it to HR

How do you email something to the wrong person

You deserved it for not double checking before you hit send. You always double check before sending anything risky.

I think that it was a dumb idea anyway so that's on you
