That really sucks! Sorry and good luck OP.
The same thing happened to us except we were actually living in the house that someone was trying to rent out. We're renters and someone took photos of our house and posted it on Craigslist and stated that the owner of the house was in a different country and to wire the money to him. This all happened during Christmas and we had a lot of people just showing up to our house trying to see it. We ended up having to post a sign out front telling people they were being scammed. The whole thing was pretty bad. Sorry that happened to you OP. Hang in there.
Well sometimes people's fingers slip with the mobile app. In this case I think there's a little bit of YDI because you should always get proper paperwork before just throwing down a huge amount of cash for an apartment.
Had something similar to me happen once. I caught the scam just in time though. So sorry that happened to you, scammers are the worst. Hope the police find them eventually.
That sucks that happened to you. For future reference, (depending on the state you live in) check the county tax record database to ensure you are speaking with the actual owner.
That's ****** up, hope you get your money back somehow
Damn he got you good. that sucks
As much as I'm sorry to hear about it, YDI. you should have taken every precaution to prevent that.
I am sorry that happened to you. It seems that is a common scheme for people on extended vacations. The town I lived in had a rash of this until the cops starting responding to every for rent ad. I don't know how you will get your money back but you could ask if there is a victims relief fund available.

It was really that guy's lucky day. Unfortunate for both of you, though. Hopefully you had enough details to get them caught and your money back.
Uh oh, you got con-do'd.
