Today, my boyfriend of three years who I helped through drug rehab and find employment in my office left me for someone else. His explanation was that now that his "head is not clouded with chemicals" and he "makes decent money", he wants to settle down with someone worthy of him. FML

He's not ****** up for using drugs in the first place. He's a dick for dumping her after she cleaned him up, got him sober, AND helped him get a job where she works. The fact that he justifies his actions by saying that he wants to settle down with someone whose worthy of HIM makes what he did even worse.

Something similar happened to me years ago. I dated a guy, helped him, then he betrayed me. Claimed I was dirt. But he came back, just in time for me to be completely over it. Don't worry, OP, you'll be fine. You sound super nice and therefore will find someone nice. Him on the other hand? not so much. Keep your head up! x

What an egotistical asshole. He would never have gotten that good job and been sober without you. So really, it's he who is unworthy. You must be an amazing person OP. Hopefully you've found someone by now, but if not, don't give up!
