Today, my parents finally fulfilled my childhood dream and got a puppy, after years of me nagging at them. The only downside is that I no longer live at home and he's not mine. FML

That doesn't mean you can't go visit him! Plus, you could go get one from your local shelter and they could become friends!

get your own and raise it to be your right hand so it'll do your bidding. Then bring him/her over to show how much better you are as a dog whisperer.

My mom did that after all of us were out in our own...most parents hate being what's called "empty nesters", with nobody left to take care of so they get a "fur child/fur kid". We didn't mind because it's just a pet & we can each get our own.
