Just Say Yes

Today, my boss decided to have the whole staff drug tested and fire everyone who failed. Out of an original staff of 14 people, only my boss, two coworkers and I remain. I now have four times my normal workload and am seriously thinking maybe I should've said "Yes" to drugs. FML

I think now you should ask for a raise in your salary since you have more work to do

At that point he is heavily understaffed I must assume. In which case, I would request a significant raise. Look at it in a positive light.

On your bright side you get extra pay!

That sucks but if your boss was as surprised as you were then he wasn't expecting to fire so many people. Even I'm surprised, I thought this fml was going in another direction

Maybe your boss should reconsider his testing policy. If he tested them BEFORE he hired them, they'd never have been working for him in the first place.

You are looking at the glass 1/2 empty! I see it as a lot of competition moved out to be able to move up quickly! However, you guys had a serious drug problem LOL- I see the whole office doing the puff puff pass!

Seriously if he is the owner, hit em up for a raise all you want but I would be looking for the next gig. He is really out of touch with his employees to let that happen. If it's a corporate world I would do the same and inform said boss I was doing it as well. **** all that.

When life gives you lemons you make the ******* lemonade

Don't worry, if he puts the jobs open they will fill up quite quickly

This could also be an FML for the fired workers depending on what they tested positive for, since some of them could have been busted for drugs they were taking for medical reasons(not that some bosses care), or consumed something else that gave them a false positive(like eating poppy seed bagels for breakfast and then testing positive for opium). In your case, tell your boss that if you're doing four times the work then you deserve four times the pay.
