Lawman

Today, my boss in my police department told me to start enforcing the "No bikes on sidewalks" law, which we usually ignore. I pulled up behind the first person I saw riding a bike on a sidewalk and flashed my lights. It turned out to be a boy with Down's syndrome, who was so upset he cried and peed. FML

wow, that really sucks. its not your fault at all, how were you to know that the kid had down syndrome? You were just doing your job. Don't worry about it man

You shouldn't feel bad about enforcing the law, and you should definitely tell your boss what happened.

#91, Only hippies agree with you... and since hippies don't vote, we don't have to give a shit about hippies.

Definately not your fault. Whoever let him out of his cage is to be blamed.

I wouldn't ride a bike in the bike lanes ever. Cars travel too closely and there are way too many assholes around. Also, the bike lane should probably be a little bigger for the safety of the biker and driver.

#86 way to be ignorant yourself. Not every place actually HAS a bike lane! DERP-DERP-DERP.

It's a sideWALK, not a sideBIKE guys. But yeah, there's far too many people on the road who have no idea how to drive when there's a bike around. I almost got ran down on the way to work today (and it's not an uncommon occurrence). I won't fault a cyclist for riding on the sidewalk if they're going slow enough to not bother walkers. If there's a bike lane, ride in that. Nothing I hate more than the guy who rides on the sidewalk right next to the bike lane. Use it or lose it man.

Oh my, calling a law enforcement officer a pig, how delightfully rebellious of you. How long do you really think you would last if the police were removed from duty? Vigilante justice solves next to nothing and chaos hurts the inciter as much as the inflicted. More or less, follow the laws, however stupid, and you don't have to deal with the consequences.

What a crappy law. I hope it doesn't get enforced where I live, cause I sure as hell am not riding my bike in a bike lane. That's wayyy too dangerous.

Bike lanes are pretty dangerous for bikers, actually. Plenty of people get "doored" because of people parking without paying attention as they get out. Sometimes people get flung into traffic when they're hit and get killed. I ride carefully on the sidewalk. It's not worth getting killed over.

It's okay dude. You were doing your job. Hey, at least you're not on here crying that you got fired for it!

Actually, as I spent a half dozen years in the Us military and am armed to the teeth, I'd do quite well... only silly hippies like you need the pigs. Actually the only thing that stops me from handling all my disputes myself ARE the cops. Since, I imagine, if I elected to hose all the morons what cause me issues, the homicide dept might show up. The cops are just the biggest, best-armed gang in town. I only respect them cause they outgun me. Hell, if I was any dumber, I'd be a pig myself.
