Leave me alone

Today, I passed a homeless person asking for change. When I politely apologized and told him that I had none, he yelled angrily, "Who comes to this city without money?" I replied, "Apparently, you do." Wrong answer. He followed me, now screaming. FML

I applaud your snappy comeback! I bet I'd have said the same thing, I mean, what right does a homeless man have to complain about people having no money to give him?

I heard that homeless people in prime locations can make up to $50,000 a year.

I bet he though of you as a tourist (since you said you were american). FYL because you didn't want him to make you feel bad, and you replied to him like a human being. But then we don't know his situation so maybe he did come with money and got fired or something. The homeless is a big problem (not the dudes, but the fact) in our society. Here in France you have real hobos really sleeping in the streets (or a porch..) but then you have the young guys and gals, punky and trashy dressed, with 4 or 5 dogs and dreadlocks, asking for money to make the spiral of coins (or any other bullshit), so they can go into the stores and buy alcohol. I do not say these dudes have a home, but they have squats (they broke in some appartments, sometimes abandonned, but the batiment industry has also a problem because they do not offer all the homes they have, to maintain high prices). Because i have no money (i'm not homeless, but i'm living on my savings, and it's kind of melting) i do not ever give away money, i'm eating twice a day and looking desesperatly for a job (talking three languages fluently is worth nothing). But if i give something away to someone, even if i want them to spend it wisely, it's now theirs and if they want to buy alcohol (which keeps warm and helps you with the hunger) with it, that's ok. I do not approve but now that the money is theirs.. That's why i'd rather give them food, real food (because a cheeseburger ! i'd make them a sandwich myself), and a bottle of water or something.

Haha totally epic answer, man! Homeless people do not have the right to our money, they simply have the advantage! Sometimes... So screw him.

You're an ass, jesus wasn't homeless (he certainly was a well educated jew, knowing torah things and stuff, he then opposed, the rest is pure fairytale)

you've never heard that jesus is disguised as homeless on the streets in an attempt to test your worthiness of heaven?

@ # 136 Are we really going to go there? Why don't we just give every hobo who doesn't contribute anything to society money, thereby justifying that behavior, because we're afraid they're all Jesus.

haha a little harsh but epic win comeback!

Thanks a lot, #34, for sticking that bizarre image in my head forever. Next time I see a homeless guy asking for money I'm going to be sorely tempted to offer him a 1-up mushroom. OP, I'm truly sorry that you had to be chased around by a psychotic homeless plumber with a red hat and a large mustache.

@4ube:And you're an idiot - others got it (see above)

You're awesome for saying that. Besides, the average panhandler makes up to $500 a day. (I can't remember source or location)
