OP, you both seem young so i'll let you both go on this one. Texting isn't the best way to do that but I understand you were too shy to do it face to face. Just be glad you had the bravery to do it and learn how to improve for the next time. He said text because he feels slightly awkward because he doesn't know how to handle that situation. If he acts badly towards you, then be glad you didn't go out with a douche. If he tries to avoid you, or just says he doesn't feel the same then, move on. See it from his view, that he feels awkward and bad for having to reject you. OP, you'll find someone who feels the same way as you one day. Give it time and practice. Don't sweat it, it's all part of life, learn and grow from experiences; it's what you make of them that counts!
