People get bored. Men are hardwired to want more than one sex partner. They aren't really built for monogamy (I'm not saying this gives any guy an excuse for being a cheating douchebag). So instead of actually getting another partner, they just imagine a new one. It's all relative, but I think that's atleast better than him physically cheating. @OP: Maybe he is just asking to roleplay? You should really give it a try. ;)

Yes, we are. It makes sense biologically. A guy could spread his genes to many women and not have to do anything afterwards. It'd be a lot easier for a guy to get 9 females pegnant than for one woman to get pregnant with 9 different males. While for a woman there's pregnancy and not being able to (healthily....I think) have another baby for a while after that. Women , biologically should be looking for quality. Men quantity. Don't insult me for this , I'm perfectly find being monogamous .

Mike is right, men are hardwired to want more than one partner, that's why men can get 5 women pregnant in a week and just leave and not have to do anything, whereas each woman can only have 1 child at a time every 9 months (or more) so it makes sense for woman to be monogamous. Monogamy is just an invention of upper class royalty to restrict one woman to each man, so they could have their harems of women (many kings in the older days had 10+ wives, including rulers of all major countries, as well as prophets of many religions). Some kings even kept harems of over 1000 women to use for their pleasure (this is a widely recognized fact, look it up). Over years monogamy because commonplace and it made its way into law. That being said, I'm very monogamous and I find it douche baggy to cheat. The only way I would approve of multiple wives is if all of them approved AND the man had enough resources and time to take care of them all very well. But I definitely do not see a problem in imagining other people....better than cheating any day. Plus men frequently become bored with relationships and one woman, which leads to cheating, but role playing etc. can satisfy any thoughts of infidelity and definitely lengthens relationships.

It's not that role-playing is bad or polygamy is bad (as long as everyone involved knows and is fine with it), but he could have said "let's role-play" if that's what he wanted instead of "let's pretend you're someone else". I mean it's fine to fantasize about it, not like men AND women don't do that all the time, but you don't have to tell someone "I'm going to pretend you're Jennifer Aniston" or whoever. Just do it! LOL!
