Today, I was ringing up a lady and her daughter at the shoe store I work at. The background on my nametag is a rainbow, and when the daughter saw it, she asked her mother why it was so. Her mother looked at my nametag, then me, then turned to her daughter and said, "Because he hates God, honey". FML

I am gay, and I have a lot of gay friends. I don't know any of them that hate God, but a lot of them do hate those religious people who have ostracized them, rejected them, insulted them, and fought to keep them from having fair access to housing, jobs, and equal protection under the law. I don't hate God at all, but it's pretty hard to grow up in the Bible Belt and get harrassed and intimidated your whole life by people who very frequently identify as Christians. Just my thoughts ...

that is really rude. i probably would've punched the lady in her face. unless you chose to wear that rainbow, then it would be pretty ****. but still, she shouldn't be saying that.

Im sorry that's horrible. That lady is just mean. In the bible it never says that being gay is wrong. The only thing it came close to was "You shall not lie besides a man like you would a women" or something like that... does that mean lesbians are ok? :P

Anyway, nuff said. hope yo life gets better man and at least the rainbow nametag brought some happiness into fmylife reader's lives and provided a nice hearty chuckle at the ignorance of some people.

Times like that remind me of what a buddy of mine said to me when I was working retail to say to a customer if they piss you off to the point of no return. "You know, my boss only allows me one **** YOU per year to a customer that does something offensive and ignorant to me. But i've decided I am not gonna waste it on you since you don't matter."
