so... you're paying MONEY for antidepressants that don't work, which also cause you to not be able to get a happy, which depresses you even more. wow, you're a genius!

#229 Maybe OP just started the antidepressants. They can take a month or so before you feel a positive difference of any kind.

And how were they supposed to know what side effects they would or would not have?

What doctors sometimes prescribe now to solve your problem: Cabergroline / Dostinex, 0.25 - 1mg twice (2) times a week for 1-2 months, then you shouldn't need more for about 6 months. Hint: You can get this from 4rx without a prescription, or just do your research online, print out things and take them into your doctor in case you do not know. It's primarily used to treat Parkinsons disease but it's use as a prolactin inhibitor and it's sexual side effects are desirable to the SSRI community and a lot of doctors have caught on. I don't take any SSRI's myself, save for diproxoline ;) Studies have been done with doses up to 8mg a day and proven safe, IIRC it's used up to 13mg/day for parkensons, but you don't have parkensons. Have fun...

Try switching meds? There are a number of different kinds out there; surely there must be some that don't have sexual side effects.

I had the same problem and it was horrible. But there's always a happy medium. I found a drug that allowed me to ****** and not want to kill myself constantly :D

Your dosage is too high. Try starting out lower. Sometimes your body adjusts when you start low and work your way up. I know some doctors tend to go way higher than necessary. I think all SSRI's will cause that libido switch-up, but dosage is a huge factor. BTW, if you're too high too soon, you run the risk of having a bigger problem with weight gain, too.

Get a different antidepressant, none of the ones I've ever taken have had that effect

I've had ones that did that also, but there is a ton of different brands and types out there.

What antidepressant are you on? This might explain a lot.
