It'll probably be easier if you devalue the anniversary day itself. Men forget, they don't remember, why try to test them and set up potential future fights? It'll save you the headache, and spare the poor man the grief of remembering and the guilt of forgetting. Really it's just one day among many days of a relationship, and it is the relationship as a whole that should be appreciated. One day should not hold that much power over a couple when they have years to look forward to.

Guys don't have a calendar programed in there heads I mean garbage men come every week anniversaries come once a year and he's only been through it 5 times before so that's 5 out of 1825 days cut the guy some slack he's only human and your Probably saying how can he miss it he's a terrible person remember your going to make a mistake someday so be happy don't start a fight with him and if you have to do something lecture him for half an hour and put it on your calendar and relax=D hope I helped
