Merry McXmas

By myjobsucks - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - Australia

Today, I found out that I'm working on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I'm spending my favourite time of the year working for $8.70 an hour. At McDonald's. FML

Actually you'll get double time. And I get 12.80 an hour standard at 17 years old.

I get paid $8/hour and I have to work every day besides Christmas Eve. Just think of the money!

I'm in the same boat!! For the same people. They have no clue what the meaning family time is :(

I hate it when people say "just think of the money." Hmm what do I want...my soul, or $8 an hour...gee tough decision. It's stupid that McDonalds should even feel the need to be open on these days. I'd be mad at my family if all they could "make" on Christmas day was a cheeseburger bought from McDonalds.

But it's the OP's favorite time of year. It's F the OP's life, not F yours. If it doesn't bother you, you don't have to post an FML about it.

Ok.... I work at maccies, and it's not even open xmas day. I dont think its open xmas day anywhere. Especially mainly christian/catholic/protestant (w.e) Countries.... So yeah.

there is one in Derby in the UK that will be open xmas day. I know its not Austrailia but it shows that sometimes they are open xmas day in mainly christian countries, maybe its a new thing they are doing.

Wow, lots of complaints here! I'm 29, and an EMT. If you don't know, that means I work in the back of an ambulance, saving people's lives. I make $7.25 an hour. Minimum wage. I work consecutive 24 hour shifts. I will be working December 23, 24, 25, and 26. I will be working December 28, 29, 30, 31, and January 1. I do not make holiday pay. Not double time, or even time and a half. I make $7.25 an hour. Period. But you know what? Because I am working on Christmas Eve and Day, another couple gets off so they can spend the holiday with their young children. And I know I'm lucky, because I HAVE a job. There are plenty of people out there that would love to have your job working at McDonald's on Christmas day. Be grateful for what you have.
