$8.70 an hour, in Australia? OP you are getting majorly ripped off, even for Maccas. They are actually one of the higher paying fast food places, you should be on $13 an hour at least.

Hang on. McDonald's, open on Christmas Day? The McDonald's around where I live are never open on Christmas Day. It's like, the only time of the entire year that McD's will be closed for the whole day. That frigging sucks. Mate, if I were you (and I've been you. I used to work there too) I would literally call in sick for Christmas day. Look really groggy when you're working Christmas Eve (not that hard to do, because lets face it, we don't wanna be there) and call in sick that evening. I've done it plenty of times, and they'll hate you less if you give them time to find a replacement. What isn't acceptable is phoning on the day, so yeah, give them some time to find a replacement. You need a holiday too.

im a firefighter working 24 hr shifts. im working the same holidays. plus my wifes birthday... be happy you atleast have a job. look at the bright side. you should be making double holiday pay

I feel ya broski. I'm pulling doubles from 3PM - 7AM every day starting Dec 21 to Jan 2....but i get pay and a half on holidays plus it's doubled once it hits overtime, hazard pay, and extra forfirefighter/EMT . :P

Be lucky you have a job. There's a shit load of people that are about to have there house repossessed, fore closed or are allready living. On the street. So what if it's not the job you want or the pay you want. Be thankful you have a job
