Everyone acting like op doesn't have a reason to complain can **** off. Yes this can help prepare her for the future, but suddenly having to provide for your heavily in debt parents is a lot is stress and pressure. She's 17, when she has to support herself she'd just be doing that: supporting one person. It's something I'm sure she's willing to do for her family but that doesn't make it any less of a bad situation.
this girl is 17, she shouldn't HAVE to worry about taking care of her family. When you're a child, you're family takes care of you. I'm not saying that she shouldn't help in this situation, but she shouldn't be viewed as bratty for being slightly frustrated at the situation.
You do realize that at minimum wage, only working two days a week, she'd be lucky to be able to afford food at all. That's not much money. Let alone enough to feed three people for a few weeks.
Looks like your family is living on ramen noodles for the next couple of weeks.

How is $700 a miscommunication? Your parents are irresponsible with their money, and now are making you pay for groceries. That is not right. Watch out. I know some times some things happen, but $700 and they can't get groceries for a few weeks is ridiciouls. You are 17. You should be saving for college or where you are going to live after graduation. I understand if it was for a week maybe two that they were asking you to help, but a few weeks is almost a month. That is ridiciuols of your pa

People need to stop bitching at her. Her parents ****** up big time, and now a 17 year old who's probably only making $70-$100 a week (and only getting paid every other week most likely) has to dip into her savings that should be supporting her after HS to feed a family of 3 or more all because her parents didn't talk properly and bounced multiple checks.

I can understand the pain. my mom spent $45 to get 3 packs of cigs when she was out, then she had cable installed which we can't really afford and don't really use anyway. Now I have to pay that installation fee on the cable bill since she can't afford it. Just be happy you don't have to pay rent.

I think the issue is she doesn't make enough to support them

It It sucks that you have to take responsibilty for your parents' mistake but on the other hand you should be proud of yourself for being able to take care of the family in a crisis! Go you!
