Today, I went with my girlfriend to her parents' house. They told me I smelled of cheap vodka. When I told them I worked in a bio lab and used ethanol a lot, they said I was too stupid to do anything like that. My girlfriend broke up with me because her parents think I'm a drunk. FML

Why should she care so much about what her parents think? I know some people want their parents and their boyfriend to get along, but why should she dump you over that? She should've talked to her parents about it, instead of just dumping you because they think you're a drunk. If that's how little it takes for her to dump you, you're better off without her.

There's a good chance his girlfriend relies on her parents to support her through college or something of the sort. If they forced her to break up with him by threatening her, then it wasn't her fault. That was probably a fake reason, if not. She might just have needed a reason to break up with the OP.

that totally sucks. i also work in a bio lab and have to use ethanol spray all the time! i have had to explain to others why i smell like alcohol, not fun.

Ok I use Ethanol, Methanol, Acetone and Acid-Alcohol every day and I don't smell of them when I leave work! Either - you need to seriously refine your technique - you aren't meant to get covered in the chemicals you use. Or more likely you are full of crap. Totally calling Shenanigans.

Tell them that you'll show them to your workplace and when she wants to date you again, break up with her for having stupid parents and being their puppet. :D Then Its a win-win for you and she won't like her parents :[]
