Today, my math teacher explained his concern for how "clipboard" should be pronounced similar to "cupboard." I thought he was crazy. I then later found myself saying it the new way to my mother. FML

That's the wonderful thing about the English language, it doesn't have to sound anywhere close to how it's spelled.

you just learned your first lesson about teachers, question everything they teach you because you just saw personal agenda, personal politics, personal ideologies merge as course teachings. if you just blindly accept what teachers say, you will be at a job interview and not know why everyone else has this puzzled look on their face or worse a look of. I don't know why your getting thumbed down, i feel like this needs to be a psa. Teachers (college or otherwise) are not infallible. Especially in a subject other than their own. I don't know if pronouncing clipboard like cupboard has much in the way of anything to do with his own ideologies and politics, but it does prove the point that teachers should be questioned.
