My little girl

Today, I told my parents I'm pregnant. I got a long lecture from my mom about using protection. It would have been fine hearing all that, but I'm turning 22, I moved out a few years ago, have a full time job with great benefits, and am getting married next summer. FML

I think it's a little too late for the lecture.

I was 22 when I had my first child (was already married a year)and also had a great paying job. Got that same lecture from my parents about me being more stable before bringing a child into this world. No regrets but will say, it's a lot harder than most think. Hope you're more prepared than I was and not in for a rude awakening.

It doesn't matter if you have a stable job, your age or if you're getting married. You shouldn't have had sex until you were married Sorry missed the period ^ and obviously so did you

You're right in that none of those things matter. However, neither does OP being married or not. Having sex before marriage is a personal choice, ie. you don't get to choose for other people. The only thing that matters is that OP is responsible enough to care for a child.

I work with a woman who is 22 and has five kids. I'm 23 and am not responsible enough to water my plants to keep them alive, it depends on the individual

22 is too young to start a family, your parents care about you is all grow up!

We're not living in the 16th century anymore, no one gives a crap if a child's a bastard.

They probably expected you to be too busy enjoying your full time job and impending marriage too much to want to add a child to the mix! They have a way of eclipsing all that. But it sounds like you know what you want, so best of luck!
