if the driver consented then it's legal.
What if actually it wasn't hers but another friend's and she just assumed it was yours wrongly?
Alright guys OP here, time for a bit of a novel so my apologies ahead of time. This actually happened a while ago, what actually happened is a little different but I tried to get it to fit in one FML but couldn't. I was helping my friend move out of her ex boyfriends house. We almost had all of her stuff when he showed up and called the police, he blocked the drive way and wouldn't let us leave. When the cops showed up he claimed none of it belonged to my friend (you know, pink dresses, purses and jewelry the basic possessions of your average man.) Of course they doubted him but searched the vehicle regardless. They found her pipes first and she fessed up but claimed nothing else was in the vehicle. When they picked up the bag with the bong in it, her exact words were "I have no idea what that is, she brought it in the car"...this girl's not my friend anymore, and I'm happy to say she lives over a thousand miles away now. My apologies for the paragraph once again
I didn't get in trouble in the end. What I consider really ****** up about it is the fact that I got a possession charge myself about six months before. I used to smoke when my depression and anxiety were really bad (I know self medicating isn't the smartest thing to do but the meds I tried hadn't helped and I almost took my life). I was honest with the officer though, and because I have never been in any trouble before, they aloud me to do 15 hours of community service and said my record would be cleared. My friend was aware of this, and still threw me under the bus. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the terrible things this girl has done to me. Once I moved it was obvious she actually contributed alot to my depression...Sorry I've typed to much, feel like I'm kinda over doing it with the follow ups. Just want to answer everyone's questions.
Why didn't she just say it was for hookah?
In my state you won't get arrested if you only have about a dime bag of weed. They don't think it's worth it I guess.
Why on earth did you allow the police to search the car!?!?!?

Wow, such a great friend throwing you under the bus instead of taking responsibility!
Time to leave that "friend" behind
