Nice guys

Today, I was at the gym running with intensity on the treadmill. As I was working out, I noticed a few guys behind me staring at me. I figured they were checking me out because I was losing some weight and looking better. Turns out they were betting on how much longer "Fat Ass" could last. FML

At least you're doing something about your weight issues. Kudos!

Never, ever assume someone is checking you out at the gym. It's just easier that way. At least they didn't refer you McFatty with a side order of McThunder Thighs.

My husband and I belonged to a gym with many franchises. I always went to the gym in a town about 25 minutes away. I was very comfortable there. It was filled with people like me, who wanted to be healthy and/or lose weight but were not trying to impress anyone. The company built a franchise closer to us so I started going to that one. It was like a different gym. It was filled with the "dig me" crowd, a total meat market. Kens and Barbies were milling around like their crap didn't stink. I preferred driving to the one farther away solely to avoid that atmosphere. Maybe when your gym membership expires, you can look around for a gym that isn't overly full of dirtbags. And congratulations on getting healthy!

see this is why i hate going to the gym, because of jackasses like them.

Haha, there's quite a few female olympic athletes that if guys saw them hanging around in baggy shorts and t shirts they would call them "fat", because big muscles don't always look like muscle in certain clothing but those ladies could kick their asses at everything! I love it when people assume I can't exercise because I'm big, and then I keep right up with them or kick their asses (playing rep hockey for most of my life helps out with that!) OP, I think you should have turned, asked if you could put your bet in for 5 min longer then either of them had bet, sweated it out, then offered them double or nothing if they could hop on and last as long as you!

I'll go to the gym with you next time, and I'll beat their asses

Anybody saying she deserves it is a total asshole. I understand where people are coming from when they say someone deserves to be fat because of their eating and exercise habits (although genetics play a large role as well,) but it's absolutely ludicrous to say someone deserves to be made fun of or ridiculed for their weight--especially while they are exercising to try to lose weight. Those guys are complete pieces of shit who point out others' flaws to make themselves feel better.

Anyone saying YDI because she's overweight is truly a moron. She's obviously trying to get healthy. Don't take those jackasses to heart, OP.

Good for you, OP! Ignore those assholes, they'll be the same guys begging for your number down the road, and then you can turn them down with great pleasure! Kudos for having the guts to work out in public in the first place!

What they did was totally uncalled for. I ******* hate those types of guys, they go to the gym and lift weights for a few minutes and all of a sudden they think that they can look around and rate the chicks at the gym according to how hot they are. They are in no way subtle about it either, girls can always tell when they're being checked out/made fun of and what they're doing is wrong either way. You don't go to the gym to check people out, you go there to break a sweat and get fit. And OP, once you lose the weight and get super hot, flaunt it, okay? And if any of those muscular gym douche bags ask you out, turn them down harshly, and publicly. Idiots.

I'm not denying that the poster may have been overweight, fat etc. And i'm not denying she may not have yet been healthy. But I have friends who are thin who cannot run at all. And have you not seen some of those beefy softball girls? They can run 6-7 minute miles. There is an Olympic power lifter who is muscular but also very big and she can do a 6-7 minute mile too and she is 200lbs. This girl does not deserve it. Just because you're heavy or whatever doesn't mean you cannot run a mile. If your lungs are trained and you've been running all your life, or have strong legs... Point is, them betting on her because she looks a certain way is completely irrelevant to the actual athletic status of a person.
