Nope

By Brrrb - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - Singapore

Today, I passed by a small shop and decided to go in to look at the jeans. Before I could even step in, the shop owner told me expressionlessly, "All the sizes here are too small for you." FML

Should have replied "No, your jeans are too ugly for me... a bit like your face" Childish I know.. but they seem to have more fun then us adults so why not. ;-)

That was nice of the owner, making sure you didn't waste your time. ;)

50 - I've never had anyone but my mom buy jeans for me. She's the only one who knows what I like and what will fit me. Jeans are a weird fit. They're not something I'd generally buy as a gift, because they're so touch-and-go. So, in most circumstances, it would be safe to assume that the shopper was buying for him/herself. I just don't think the shop owner was being as unkind as everyone is saying, is all. I think it was a situation where a frustrated shop owner, probably dealing with the harsh backlash of a slowing economy and lowered consumer spending, didn't want to deal with straightening up a store again after a customer who most likely would not find anything to spend money on, anyways. It wasn't the most polite thing to do, nor was it the best business move, but I doubt it was meant to be a sting.

Maybe if you worked out more, you'd be able to shop in normal stores like other people. Until then, gl at yetimart.

That has happened to me once at Victoria's Secret. I started to go in, and an employee stopped me and said, "We don't have anything in your size, please leave." And I naturally got mad, so I said, "That's pretty funny, because I wasn't shopping for me, I was going to buy some perfume for a friend. I need to speak to your manager now, so I can tell them that it's YOUR fault that I'm not going to spend any money here." So then I complained to the manager and made them give me the number to headquarters (which I didn't call, but I still made the manager get angry at the employee.) Maybe you should do something similar if you're ever in the jeans situation again.

why is it that half the FMLs on this site are about fat people who get told that they're fat? Go on a diet, for god's sake. Frankly, I think you should feel happy that someone actually pointed it out, while everybody else is thinking it behind your back.

how did he know you weren't shopping for someone else?? that's always a possibility too~ and also it depends on the store! people bitching about 'people need to stop complaining that they were told they're fat' --- like i said. it all depends on the store. when i go to a lot of stores in japan, they have stuff that wouldn't fit my ass. but i'm not fat. unless you consider 140 fat. we're just built differently with curves in different places.

I have been told the same thing all the damn time. There is never any grounds to say something like that to anyone. And weight doesn't matter, like the store person doens't know if i am shopping for me or a friend. NEVER EVER IS IT RIGHT. end of story.

how was the shop owner to know that she was shopping for herself and not someone else?

I wholeheartedly agree with #58. Even if #55's point of view is valid, the employee's behavior is entirely inappropriate and a complaint should be filed.
