ha so basically you're supposed to just survive the bulk of your years in grad school, learning the skills you need to live day by day. Then, when it comes time for your thesis, you work your ass off building your raft. (writing the thesis). Then, you get on your rafts and float into the ocean and hope you don't sink (defending your thesis). And then you just pray that someone comes along and saves you (pass your defense and getting your phd). I like it.
